Dev Diary 21 - Private Shares
One of the first challenges for players in the game is to buy back the shares of your company that your uncle owns. By default he owns 50% of the shares when you start the game.
If you visit the Private Shares screen you can buy or sell shares in your company.
Part of the deal your uncle made with your dad is that his shares will never fall in value, even if the company value goes down.
On the first of every month, the simulation calculates the value of the company. It takes the land values, and building values, along with any can you have on hand. Then divides that into 100 pieces.

While it is not implemented yet, buying back all of the shares your uncle owns will move the story forward.
Currently there is no profit sharing with your uncle, so you don't have to worry about losing money if you have to sell more shares. (This could potentially be an option during the "new game" process, to add a bit of difficulty. We will see.)

-DD22: Loans
-DD23: Public Shares
-DD24: Wrap up
