Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat
A downloadable game for Windows
Welcome to Factory Default: Build, Trade, Repeat!
Factory Default is a management simulation game where you build a worldwide industrial conglomerate. You control the entire production chain: from mining raw ore and farming crops to refining complex materials and manufacturing high-tech goods.
As of Update v0.0.6.0, the flat maps are gone. Research, build, and trade across a fully exploitable 3D Globe.
Mine Lapis Lazuli in Afghanistan, refine it in the Congo Basin Union, manufacture semiconductors in Taiwan, and sell them in the United States. Manage workforce demands, navigate local markets, and balance your company's reputation against your profit margins.
Gameplay Style
If you enjoy the production-chain complexity of games like Anno 1800, Satisfactory, or Dyson Sphere Program, but dislike the tedium of placing individual conveyor belts or housing demands: Factory Default is for you.
Inspired by Cities Skylines, Farming Simulator, and idle tycoon games, you can play at your own pace. Speed run to make billions quickly, or methodically build the perfect, sustainable global supply chain.
What's NEW in Update v0.0.6.0: The Global Perception Update
This is the biggest update this game has had, transforming the entire experience from a 2D map to a 3D planet.
- THE 3D WORLD MAP: Say goodbye to the 2D hex maps. You now control the entire planet without loading screens or pop-ups.
- GLOBAL PERCEPTION SYSTEM: A new 5-Star rating system that determines your Influence generation. You are judged on Financial Strength, Industrial Might, Corporate Responsibility, Environmental Stewardship, Reputation, and Legacy.
- COMPANY POLICIES: Spend Influence to enact global policies. Will you support "Union Representation" and "Sustainable Architecture" for a reputation boost? Or will you cut costs with "Child Labor," "Smuggling," and "Unfiltered Exhaust"?
- ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT (EIU): Pollution now matters. Manage your Environmental Impact Units or face penalties. Build Carbon Sinks, Artificial Coral Reefs, and Direct Air Capture facilities to offset your footprint.
- MAP EXPANSION: The world is finished! I have added over 50 new territories, including major "Unions" (Caribbean, Balkan, Mekong River, etc.) across Africa, the Americas, Eurasia, and Oceania.
- NEW RESOURCES & BUILDINGS:
- Fishing: Build Wharves on offshore tiles to catch Tuna, Krill, Pearls, and more.
- Advanced Industry: Semiconductor Plants, Nuclear Plants, Meatworks, and Foundries.
- New Crops/Mines: Amber, Lapis Lazuli, Poppies, Vanilla, and more.
Update Video:
Key Features
- 100+ Regions to Exploit: Build across a massive 3D globe featuring distinct countries and regional Unions.
- Deep Supply Chains: Over 550+ Items to mine, farm, refine, manufacture, and trade.
- Ultima Mundi Project: A massive mid-to-end game objective where you help build a new continent from scratch.
- Management & Efficiency: Hire managers and adjust Wages & Benefits to maximize worker efficiency and happiness.
- Research Tree: Unlock new technologies, from commercial fishing techniques to nuclear power.
- Dynamic Market: Prices fluctuate daily based on global events and your own trading volume.
- Influence System: Enact policies and expand your company quickly using your influence.
- Government Bailouts: Ran your company into the ground? Accept a bailout from your home country... at the cost of your reputation and influence.
This is just the beginning. More items, production chains, and features are currently in development!

Would love to have this as Early Access in Steam with some price so that I could play this on Linux!
A Steam release is my goal.
Hey, I saw your post on Facebook and tried out the game. Since I’m a big fan of this genre, I’m giving you my feedback from a pure player's point of view: I felt a bit lost. As soon as I started, the amount of buttons and concepts was overwhelming.
I understand the general theme, but I lack a 'starting point.' I don't know where to start, what the UI does, or the logic behind the mechanics (like why I should produce certain items or influence politicians). The goal of buying 50% of shares is clear, but the path to get there isn't. I really want to try everything, but the learning curve felt too steep right away.
I'll give more in-depth feedback once I have more time. Even if you aren't ready for a tutorial yet, I’d suggest thinking about 'onboarding' now to avoid technical debt or major changes later on. Hope this helps!
Thank you for your feedback!
That seems to be most people's experience so far. The next update (0.0.7.0) will include a formal tutorial.
In the mean time, if you need to give yourself some breathing room, you can build some wind or solar power plants to increase your income. (Just be careful as there are upper limits to what the governments will buy from you.)
Also, if you check out the contracts>objectives menu, that will give you some rewards for exploring the UI, and building.
Very in-depth Godot build!, came across this while I was looking for Godot resources. Any chance you will be publishing the code or Github repo for learning?
Thanks for taking a look!
Currently, I don't have any plans for that. Code is not my strongsuit, so I'm a bit self conscious for people to see it. However, if there was interest in a specific aspect of my game, I wouldn't be opposed to making a tutorial. Something along the lines of "A Novice's guide to [blank] in Godot". Not sure there would be much audience for that.
Do you have a discord? Mine is n8thegreat, I'd love to talk to you some more in some specific problems I'm having that I'm sure you've implemented.
Interesting economy game, quite deep.
Thank you!
Looks cool! Will there be a linux version too? Is this made with godot as well?
This is made in Godot 4.3. I don't have any current plans for release for linux.
Cool about godot! If you change your mind and hit that export button and want a tester, :)
Woah man; this is really cool! I really enjoy the concept and depth of the mechanics! Nice job!
Thank you very much, I am glad you like it!
